You can use Cinnamon for coloring and of course that will add scent too.
Patchouli – Lavender – Vanilla
Bergamot – Lemongrass
Orange – Sandalwood
Cinnamon Leaf – Frankincense
And of course Lavender for a good night sleep. After a warm lavender and epsom salt bath you are sure to sleep like a baby:)
Or any other combination that makes you feel good.

VIDEO Summe’r issue: How to treat Sunburn and mosquito bites
Two things already happened to me this summer:
Me and my family got sunburnt to our bones. We just went to a friend’s house, feeding the goats and playing with the cat and duck. The irresponsible mummy didn’t think about sunblock. If we went to the beach I would remember but we were just visiting a friend and one thing led to another, we were maybe 2 hours out and came home sparkling red. In another occasion we were all bitten by probably sandflies. That’s really mean, really, really, really mean. My 5 year old could not sleep, my 4 yo scratched until bleeding. we tried Aloe Vera, Coconut oil, Weleda gel from the pharmacy, oatmeal and my anti-fungal ointment (we were desperate). Each gave us some relief but nothing ended it up. And I felt like I can not make oatmeal baths all day long.
Until I found
And gave it a try immediately.
What do you know, it treated the
sunburn well but also the bites (I wish I knew it 2 weeks ago) I think I’ll give it a try for any kind of itch. So, to make a long story short: How to treat sunburn and mosquito bites
Make a real strong tea, I used 3 black tes bags in a cup but I think any tea will do,
Squeeze it and extract it as much as you can
Let it cool, completely
Then apply on infected area with a cotton wool and do not wash
Do it several times, like every hour or two
The day after you will have no sunburn, you will switch from an overcooked lobster to Enrique Iglasias in one day.
And the mosquito bites will cease to itch, though will still be there.
And here’s a young beautiful scientist campare between Apple cider vinegar which is also considered good for sunburn and tea.
Give it a try and let me know. And of course, if you have a better idea, share it with us, we all want to know.
Oatmeal cookies stocking fillers
2 cups oats (You can mill them if you like)
1 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
Prepare 6 socks.
Put around half a cup to each sock.
Now you have 6 Xmas presents,
might be a good idea to give 2 of them to each person
so they can re-use the socks afterwards.
Here’s a video that shows another version
and also shows the brilliant technique:
Of course you can play with it as much as you want
You can add Lavender flowers, if you are lucky to have them
Almost any kind of tea herbs or bags
Essential oils (5 drops per sock is enough)
Epsom salt (Great!)
Just stick with the oatmeal, it’s so moisturizing and gentle for your skin
Perfect for a bath.
Of course it’s not only for
You can put it in a jar especially when the oats are ground.
And you can use it all year round, not only in Christmas time.
Make yourself a good night sleep linen spray! So, what do we need for a good night sleep? What works for me is: Hot shower just before bed Darkness, Dim the lights half an hour before sleep. It’s a good idea to keep some of the curtains open for an easy waking up. Nice temperature – means for me, at least in Auckland, thick blanket also in the summer. In the winter hot water bottle will do the job. No fights before sleep, you can always do it in the morning but that will probably ruin your day, so yeah, I guess no fights whatsoever. Clean linens with a pleasent smell. Of course it’s optimal if the whole sleeping room and house is clean but let’s stay realistic. Some of us have children, jobs and other things to keep us busy. good night sleep linen spray Half a cup Rosewater (available at the oriental food shops but I think I saw it at the Countdown and probably you can get it in any of the big supermarkets) 10 drops French Lavender essential oil 10 drops Berganot essential oil 5 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil 5 drops Vetiver essential oil Put all the ingredients in a spray bottle from the $2 shop And shake we bfore each use.
